Well I think it presumptuous for anyone to tell an artist when the next Inspiration will move them. Working on it can mean trying but unable to produce anything decent. The Muse does not always visit. When they do writing fiction is like an LSD trip as you exist in an alternative reality of which you only write a small fraction. That small fraction has"magic" that makes the reader feel its real and that is because the author was spontaneously taken on an acid trip by some Muse existing in a rich alternative reality. We know not why. I for one do not fault Martin for believing his old friends might visit before he has to check out. He isn’t fooling himself, he is anxiously awaiting the arrival of an old friend for one final “experience” together
