I was surprised that you did not cover Bogart and his game in Casablanca. In the scene in Cafe Americain, he picks up his opponents(who is not there) knight while analyzing a position. He stares at that “horsey”in a way that makes “players” think he is worried about it. It is hard to see the whole board and movie posters don’t help too much, but the analysis I did years ago led me to believe the knight posed a multi-move mating threat. I did not use a computer way back then and I have since lost that analysis. Nonetheless, it is a definitive scene for me as Bogart was an avid chess player said to be a a B or A player in his prime…though that would predate such ratings I think.
